at least 30 minutes a session. Even though June officially ends on Wednesday, I'm shooting
for five full weeks. The aim of this goal is to help me make regular exercise part of my
routine. Body and soul. Consistent healthy living. I need to keep it up ... and I want to.
The thing is, I've felt fabulous over the past four weeks. I'm loving it. It's totally energizing,
and I sense a craving for exercise every day, missing it if I skip the day all together. So, I
want to keep it going. I don't want to lose that feeling! Let me tell you, I was not feeling it
in January through April. But just a couple weeks of doing this, and I wanted more. I'm
enjoying living with more enthusiasm, energy and drive. That's a good thing.
After that motivated intro (wrote on Sunday), I skipped Monday! Exercising was in the plan
for the day. Then some stuff came up that I had to do in the morning and it was too hot to
walk after that. It meant I took four days off from working out -- my longest stretch since
starting this on June 1st. I even had to push myself out the door this morning. How quickly
we fall, huh? Anyway, good 45 minute walk this morning with my happy dogs. Time to get
back into it.
Day two -- Wednesday, June 30th:
Bought Jillian Michael's DVD (on sale at Target right now for $9). By renting it earlier in
the month, I knew I liked it and wouldn't soon get bored with it. The workout is advanced,
but I'm determined to get better at it. I did 43 minutes in the evening. Every single one of
them kicked my ass. Slept solidly that night. :)
Day three -- Thursday, July 1st:
Went out for my walk earlier -- 5:30AM instead of 6 or 6:30-- to beat the heat. Not so sure
it worked. I might need to start at 5AM now that it's hotter. Anyway, I had a a good 65
minute walk. I waited for a bit ('til I thought my neighbors would be up) and then did 68
minutes of yard work. The lawn was longer then normal and took more energy to finish.
I weed whacked and mowed two ways. Then, I sprayed everything in the back yard down
from the pool deck to the plants and the chair covers to the grill. It wasn't the most environmentally responsible thing to do, but it felt good to rinse away the layer of dust
that had settled onto everywhere. Wrestling with the extension cord, weed whacker,
mower, and very heavy hose gave my already tired body a workout. I sweat out any and
all toxins in my body. Great way to start the day!
Day four -- Friday, July 2nd:
Wonderful 58 minute walk. Starting at 5:30AM worked well today. And I even met a
neighbor on my way up the street at the end. :)
Day five -- Saturday, July 3rd:
Nice, quick 38 minute walk with the dogs. Did some good thinking and got my head in
Nice, quick 38 minute walk with the dogs. Did some good thinking and got my head in
a great place to start the day.
That gives me 317 minutes of physical activity this week. My best week of the month!
Now to maintain. I want to keep going even though the goal and month are over.
I hope you all have a fabulous, safe holiday weekend.
We're off to Prescott for the day.
