Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you,
the next President of the United States of America!
Words just can't describe...
I was glued to election night coverage from 5:30pm until
just after the acceptance speech. Tears were streaming down
my face the last hour or so. Tears of joy. Tears of hope.
Tears of pride in our democracy and our country. Tears of
relief.
David and I had a great election night. He manned the
laptop, I flipped between CNN and ABC. Our American
fare menu fit the bill: Turkey burgers, fresh veggies,
potato salad, BBQ chips, and Obama cookies.
(Ignore the horrible photos here. My camera does not
like my night time kitchen lighting.) These cookies
are from Tammie Coe Bakery. She has a shop right
across the street from the Obama HQs in Phoenix.
There were so many people in the area yesterday;
You could feel the energy. I also bought cookies
for the two officers that were parked in front of
Tammie Coe, keeping an eye on the crowd. I thought
they might need refreshments. I think they were
surprised. :)
This is a good dish -- Boil potatoes, then dice them.
Add tomato, sweet corn, fresh basil, a little sauteed
onion, salt, pepper, and a couple dashes of olive oil.
I've been making it for years.
I told David, it's like your team winning the Super Bowl
for the first time in almost a decade after a team you
just couldn't bear anymore had been winning all along --
except that this game has enormous national and global import.
It was a big night. I'm sure all the candidates are ready for
some rest. This has been a long 22 months for them. President
Elect Obama and Vice President Elect Biden have a lot to do
in the coming weeks. Let the games begin!
